A private family tree you build by telling your family's story
Type or say what you know, such as “My grandmother Rose grew up in Cork. She married my grandad Tom in 1952,” and Oikogen turns it into a family tree. Nothing goes into your family tree until you check it, and your family data never leaves your device.

You say
My grandmother Rose grew up in Cork. She married my grandad Tom in 1952.
Oikogen asks you to check
- Rose, your grandmother. Grew up in Cork.
- Tom, your grandfather. Married Rose in 1952.
Save it, fix it, or discard it. Then the tree grows.
A family tree app that listens
Talk instead of filling in forms
Tell your family's story in your own words, in any order: “my dad's sister June,” “Grandpa worked on the railways.” Oikogen works out who's who and where they go on the tree.
Check before anything is saved
Each message becomes a card of new people and facts, and nothing from it goes into your family until you save it. Every fact remembers the sentence it came from, and when two sources disagree, Oikogen tells you.
Private by design
Oikogen runs in your web browser. There's no account to create, and your family data never leaves your device. How privacy works.
What you can do with it
- Build the tree as you talk. Parents, children, partners and siblings fall into place as you tell the story.
- Ask about your family. “Who were Tom's parents?” Oikogen answers only from what you've saved, never from the internet.
- See where every fact came from. Open anyone on the tree to see what's known and why.
- Speak instead of typing. Your voice is turned into text on your device, and you check it before it's sent.
- Share with relatives. Export a file, with or without the chat, and send it to family. When they import it, they choose who's who before anything merges.
- Take it to other genealogy software. Download your tree as a standard GEDCOM file.
- Go back if you need to. Restore points let you undo an import or a big change.
Built from your family's own stories
Oikogen works from what you and your family tell it: names, places, dates and the stories behind them. It keeps track of who said what, which makes it a home for the stories that aren't written down anywhere else.
What you need
- Chrome on a computer, or Safari on iPhone with iOS 26 or later. We've tested it with Chrome on a Mac and on an iPhone 14 Pro. Other browsers that support WebGPU may work, but we haven't tested them yet.
- On the first visit, your browser downloads Oikogen's AI model once: about 1 GB on a computer, about 300 MB on a phone or tablet. Voice input needs one more download the first time you use the microphone: about 240 MB on a computer, about 110 MB on a phone. After that it starts from your browser's storage.
- Phones and tablets use a smaller model that makes more mistakes, which is why checking each card matters.
